چکیده

To investigate the impact of several methodological variations in the assessment of augmenting/reducing, auditory evoked potentials were recorded to 1000 Hz tones with varying stimulus intensity (59, 71, 79, 88, 92, 96 dB (SPL)) at 19 EEG sites from 24 participants at two separate recording sessions. The internal consistency analysis revealed only weak correlations for linear regression slopes based on high intensity levels when compared to slopes based on low intensity levels. For base-to-peak and peak-to-peak ERP component measurements, acceptable internal consistency and temporal stability was confirmed for the N1/P2 based slope, and partly for the P2 slope, whereas P1, N1, and P1/N1 slopes were not reliable. After submitting auditory evoked potentials to a covariance-based principal component analysis (PCA), followed by unscaled Varimax rotation, temporal stability of slope measures for the corresponding factor scores substantially increased. The findings suggest that at least five to six levels over a relatively broad intensity range are required to yield a reliable measure of auditory evoked augmenting/reducing. If measured reliably, P2 slopes may reflect stimulus intensity changes more precisely than N1/P2 slopes, and should therefore be evaluated in future studies of individual differences in augmenting/reducing. Reliability of Motor Evoked Potentials Induced by Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: The Effects of Initial Motor Evoked Potentials Removal

Introduction: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a useful tool for assessment of corticospinal excitability (CSE) changes in both healthy individuals and patients with brain disorders. The usefulness of TMS-elicited motor evoked potentials (MEPs) for the assessment of CSE in a clinical context depends on their intra-and inter-session reliability. This study aimed to evaluate if removal ...

Middle and long latency auditory evoked potentials in cat. I. Component definition and dependence on behavioral factors.

Middle (10-50 ms) and long (50-600 ms) latency auditory evoked potentials (AEPs) were investigated in artificially respired, muscle-paralyzed cats. Similarity to human potentials of comparable latencies was examined in two ways: (1) the similarity of waveform features such as peak amplitude, polarity and latency, and (2) the effects of task-related variables on these various waveform features. ...

A wavelet packet model of evoked potentials.

The standard methods for decomposition and analysis of evoked potentials are bandpass filtering, identification of peak amplitudes and latencies, and principal component analysis (PCA). We discuss the limitations of these and other approaches and introduce wavelet packet analysis. Then we propose the "single-channel wavelet packet model," a new approach in which a unique decomposition is achiev...

فراوانی پتانسیل‌های برانگیخته غیر طبیعی در مالتیپل اسکلروزیس: مطالعه مقطعی در 25 بیمار

Background: Visual, brain stem auditory and somatosensory evoked potentials (EPs) have been traditional paraclinical tests to evaluate the competency of sensory tracts in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. It seems that only one of these EPs could be sufficient, at least as a screening test. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the frequency of these three evoked potentials in definite MS ...

Mid-latency auditory evoked potentials during ketamine anaesthesia in humans.

We studied mid-latency auditory evoked potentials (MLAEP) during induction of general anaesthesia with ketamine 2 mg kg-1. MLAEP were recorded before, during and after induction of general anaesthesia on the vertex (positive) and mastoid (negative) positions. Latencies of the peak V, Na, Pa, Nb, P1 and amplitudes Na/Pa, Pa/Nb and Nb/P1 were measured. Fast-Fourier transformation was used to calc...
